If you were looking to get a versatile board game that will get a group of you engaged in combat and different missions, this is a great choice. Coming from a reputable brand, it is highlighted by two different games. Thus you have an opportunity to choose which one you like better and ensure that those few hours will be entertaining!

Review

We did say that Fantasy Flight is a well-known company considering the fact that it has been on the market for more than a couple of years. While not offering a warranty policy, there is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. This is more than enough time for you to figure out whether everything is there or if something is lacking.

Before we define the game story and gameplay, we want to highlight a couple of features that make this product such a good choice.

First and foremost, it can be enjoyed by up to 5 players, which means your whole family can engage in it. On average, the entire game needs about 2 hours to be completed. Still, this does depend on the dynamics, and you can also repeat the session for more entertainment.

Apart from the board game cards that you are getting, there are also several sculpted figures made out of plastic. These resemble the Rebellion heroes as well as stormtroopers, AT-ST walkers, and officers. As we have mentioned above, there are two different games.

You can either decide to engage in a skirmish or a campaign that features around 30 different missions. The main disadvantage that we see with this whole setup is the age limit of 14+.

Talking about the game story, you are in the middle of the Galactic Civil War fighting against the Rebel operatives. You can choose which side you will be. The best thing about this board game is that there are more than enough figures and cards for all five players to enjoy without any limits.

As for the gameplay, it certainly is more simple if you decide for the Skirmish mode. It is focused on acquiring the crucial objectives using Rebel troopers or Galaxy soldiers.

On the other hand, playing a campaign is based on the main storyline and will ask you to fulfill certain missions. If you are craving some Star Wars fun, we are quite sure that both of these modes will leave you entertained and satisfied.

Apart from the age limit and packaging issues, there is not much we can say against it. Fair price, versatility, and great design make it a superb choice!

Pros

  • Fair price for what you get
  • 2 different games
  • Plastic figures
  • Up to 5 players
  • Hours of fun for the whole family

Cons

  • Some users reported faulty packaging
  • Age limit from 14+

Being a true fan of the Star Wars franchise, you have to recognize Hasbro. This brand has been manufacturing its merchandise for decades. As a toy leader, they are known for focusing on both customer satisfaction and eco-friendly business. This is just one of the reasons why Risk: Star Wars Edition Game is a phenomenal choice. Highlighted by a detailed gameboard and different stages of combat, it will allow you to depict your favorite movie scenes.

Review

The first difference between this and the product mentioned above is the age limit. Risk: Star Wars Edition Game can be played by anyone who is between 10-99 years. Looking at the concept of this board game, there are three different setups that you can engage in. This all depends on how many players are willing to try out their luck.

You can either form two teams and go to the battlefield, or play one on one. If you would ask us, the latter option is more entertaining. Why? Well, the four-player mode simply isn’t too entertaining. The cards give you almost no freedom on what you can do, following the strict storyline. The good thing is that you are not limited to whether you will be on the light or dark side.

As for the different items included in this board game, we have a lot to review. Firstly, you will be happy to see that the Millenium Falcon vehicle figure is included in the game. Additionally, there are 20 X-Wing and 16-Y wing fighters. Also 15 B fighters, 6 rebel fleet markers, and 56 TIE fighters. Apart from those vehicles, you are also looking at different tokens that make the whole game happen.

Thus, there are 9 pieces of Stormtrooper ones, a single Rebel Strike Team, a single Millenium Falcon, a single Executor as well as 4 hit tokens. In the end, you are getting 30 cards for both sides (Rebel order, and Empire order). Also, 5 dice to roll and a detailed instruction guide.

The whole idea of this game is that you lead three battles at the time. This is what makes the risk Star Wars Edition quite competitive, especially if you are enrolling with one player versus another one.

Depending on what side you are, your mission might be to destroy all of the Rebel vehicles or conquer the Death Star and Luke Skywalker. To be honest, it is among the most challenging board games out there. Thus, as a true enthusiast, we do suggest that you give it a go!

Pros

  • Affordable price
  • 3 different stages
  • Rebel/Empire vehicle figures
  • Detailed order cards
  • Appropriate for ages from 10-99+

Cons

  • 2×2 is not that challenging
  • Flimsy cardboard tokens

Moving on with our list of the best Star Wars board games, we present another product from Hasbro. While based on a different concept, it is similar to the Risk game in terms of price and quality. The best thing? This board game is suitable for those between 8-99+ and will keep you engaged for hours!

Review

The main difference between this and the Risk game is that you are solving mysteries instead of conquering objectives. The whole idea is that you discover the plans of the dark side, and prevent them. Thus, you can be either Luke, Han, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, or Leia, trying to predict what are Darth Vader’s intentions.

What is included in this game is a 3D board that is divided into two different levels. Along with it is an array of plastic figures of the aforementioned characters and the vehicle tokens that you will need to get a hold of. Not to forget, 19 different corridor cards and 21 clue cards will give you an idea of where to go next.

There is also a mission notepad and a game guide to provide you with a better idea of how to get through the challenges. We did notice that the board is flimsy compared to the one of Fantasy Flight Games. Thus, if you were hoping to play it on an everyday basis, you will need to pay extra care.

We can say with confidence that Hasbro did a lovely twist on the well-known Clue game. Still, the fact that once you are in the Detention Block, there is no way out, makes it a disadvantage. While we do get the point, being able to pull out a rescue card would have been a better solution. Other than this, and the aforementioned design issues, we consider it a worthy choice for everyone!

Pros

  • Affordable price for most
  • 6 detailed character figures
  • Great storyline
  • Hours of fun
  • Players from 8+ Years old

Cons

  • Detention block (no rescue)
  • Flimsy cardboard build

If you are looking to engage in a challenging task of repairing a BB-8 droid with the time buzzing out, this is a perfect choice. Another board game from Hasbro, we assure you that the gameplay and storyline follow the original Star Wars. Thus, if you are a collector or simply someone who wants to have hours of fun, give it a go.

Review

This game is quite different from the ones mentioned above, considering that it doesn’t feature plastic figures, tokens, or cards. On the other hand, the concept of it is quite unique. Thus, you and your friends/family members will be fighting to see who can repair the well-known BB-8 first. If you get buzzed, you are out, and that is what makes Operation Game Star Wars so challenging.

In the box, you get a detailed gameboard, instructions, plastic tweezers, as well as 12 pieces of defected droid parts. Also, there is the time buzzing device that runs on 2 x 1.5V Alkaline batteries. Still, we would argue that it is too quiet. Additionally, it lacks the red light that was featured in the original Operation game.

While there is no doubt that you are in for a unique experience, it all depends on what you are looking for. There certainly is room for improvement, especially when it comes to design quality. Still, if you are a Star Wars fan, you will have a lot of time getting the good old BB-8 to run!

Pros

  • Affordable price
  • 12 Defective BB-8 parts
  • Ages 6+ can play
  • Detailed board
  • Highly competitive

Cons

  • A bit flimsy
  • The buzzer is lacking details

Last but not least, if you want a board game that is not as interactive, but highly competitive, then this is a perfect choice. By choosing one of the four wedge holders that stand for Jedi, Rebel Alliance, First Order, and Galactic Empire, you will enroll in a knowledge-testing game. Hasbro did a great job with the Trivial Pursuit of the Star Wars franchise.

Review

As we have mentioned above, you should have loads of fun coming out on top as someone who knows the most about Star Wars. This game is perfect for all of you that aren’t as much into moving figures and throwing dice. There are 1,800 different questions all relevant to the franchise movies.

The design is excellent, as well as the overall quality of this game board. Apart from the aforementioned four wedge holders, there are 24 wedges, a single dice, as well as 300 different cards that will determine the questions for you to answer.

Honestly, becoming a master of this game will require that you did more than just watch all the movies. The questions can be quite tricky and focused on all prequels and sequels. We suggest that you play at least a couple of games before coming up with a final verdict.

The reason for this is that the game may seem disproportionate. Overall, it is a good twist on the Trivial Pursuit that is a great solution or an evening together!

Pros

  • Affordable price for most
  • 1800 different questions
  • Up to 4 Players
  • Highly competitive
  • Iconic wedge holders

Cons

  • Challenging questions
  • Age limit 16+ years old

Conclusion

We did our best to go through the most popular challenging games on the market. Our personal favorite? Fight Flight Games Star Wards Board Game. The reason for this is the versatility that it offers, as well as the fact that there are two different modes offered. On the other hand, Hasbro Operation Game is a highly challenging and competitive game that you will enjoy for hours if on a tighter budget!
