Quick Overview

Move over X-Wing — this Lego Star Wars Y-Wing Starfighter set is here to prove that the Rebel Alliance is definitely more than a one-trick pony. While admittedly not as iconic as the famous X-Wing fighters, the Y-Wing is still no slouch when it comes to capable starfighters in the Star Wars universe. Mainly used for bombing runs against capital ships and ground targets, Y-Wing fighters are also used for dogfights against enemy forces.

Now thanks to this Lego Star Wars set, you can build your very own large-scale Y-Wing replica.

In spite of the fact that the Y-Wing Starfighter isn’t as prolific as the more famous X-Wing and A-Wing ships, they have still played quite an important role in many, many battles that have taken place in the Star Wars universe. Having appeared in Episode IV – A New Hope, Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, plus numerous Star Wars television series, the Y-Wing is definitely still a vital part of the Rebel Alliance’s fleet.

What’s Included?

When you purchase the Lego Star Wars Y-Wing Starfighter, you’ll be getting all 1,967 pieces required to assemble the ship. Not to worry though — you’re not going to have to assemble the Y-Wing by yourself with that many pieces. There are also detailed assembly instructions included that will show you how to put it together every step of the way, from A to Z.

Overview of Features

This Lego Star Wars Y-Wing is actually quite an impressive little replica ship. It measures over 7 cm high, while being 61 cm long and 30 cm wide. When placed on the included stand, it’s over 24 cm high, making for quite an impressive display piece.

The level of detail is top notch as well, as the Y-Wing features a working cockpit that opens and closes, plus retractable landing gear, wheel-activated rotating ion cannons, and it even includes space to place an R2-BHD Astromech droid.

Speaking of the R2-BHD Astromech droid, this set includes two mini-figures — an R2-BHD droid and a Gold Team Leader Pilot for the Y-Wing itself.

When paired with other Lego Star Wars starfighter products (like the TIE fighter, X-Wing, etc), you’ll be able to create your own epic space battles in no time.

How to Get the Most Out of This Product

It’s definitely recommended to closely follow the included assembly instructions when putting the Lego Star Wars Y-Wing together. The sheer number of small pieces (1,967!) included is staggering. It would be nearly impossible to put it all together on your own, so just trust us on this one folks — follow the instructions! There’s a reason why this product is only recommended for teenagers who are 14+ — it’s definitely not the easiest Lego set to put together.

Alternatives

As we mentioned at the very beginning of this article, the Y-Wing is unfortunately often overshadowed by the more famous X-Wing and A-Wing starfighters. With that in mind, it makes it incredibly easy to recommend either this Lego Star Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter or this Lego Star Wars A-Wing Starfighter as alternative options.

Conclusion

It never ceases to amaze us when it comes to just how much attention to detail that Lego puts into their Lego Star Wars series of ships and figurines. There’s a reason why so many different Lego sets have been exploding in popularity in recent years. Between Lego movies, video games, and fantastic toy sets like this Lego Star Wars Y-Wing Starfighter, there has never been a better time to be a fan of Lego and/or Star Wars.

This Y-Wing Starfighter is easily one of our favorite Lego Star Wars products as well, thanks to that same level of detail and the fact that it even includes a mounting stand plus a couple of mini-figures. It’s an easy recommendation to make for Lego Star Wars fans everywhere.
