Our Favorite Star Wars Character Names

As we mentioned above, the Star Wars universe definitely features an abundance of characters with incredibly interesting names. Here are just a few of our favorite character names found in the franchise (without going for the too obvious main characters):

Boba Fett

The infamous bounty hunter and genetic clone of Jango Fett, Boba Fett made his first appearance in the film series in Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. Hired by Darth Vader to track down the crew of the Millennium Falcon, the Boba Fett character rapidly became a cult favorite and one of the most popular characters in the entire franchise.

Speaking of the crew of the Millennium Falcon, Chewbacca is Han Solo’s famous co-pilot. The two became quite close after escaping Imperial captivity together on the planet Minban. The Chewbacca character became so popular that he was actually voted one of the “greatest sidekicks” in film history by the popular magazine Entertainment Weekly.

Jabba the Hutt

While Jabba the Hutt may not have as much featured screen time as some of the other more prominent characters found on our list, he definitely left an impact with what little time he had. First appearing in Episode VI - Return of the Jedi as the planet Tatooine’s resident crime lord, Jabba was flanked by half-naked slave girls, his motley crew of thugs and bounty hunters, and of course, one mean and nasty captive Rancor.

Darth Maul

Before there was Darth Vader (chronologically, at least …), there was the incredibly cool Darth Maul. Serving as one of the primary antagonists of Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul is immediately recognizable due to his red-and-black face paint and double-bladed lightsaber. In a movie that is commonly criticized by die-hard fans for many reasons, Darth Maul definitely served as one of the bright spots.

Kylo Ren

One of the newer characters introduced in the first Disney trilogy series, and one of the main antagonists at that, Kylo Ren shocked viewers when it was revealed that he was the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa. First trained by his uncle, Luke Skywalker, in the ways of the Jedi, he now serves as leader of the First Order and is currently a student of the dark side of the Force under Supreme Leader Snoke.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Last but not least, there is Obi-Wan Kenobi. The first character to begin training Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Jedi, old Ben Kenobi had only the briefest of appearances in the original trilogy before being cut down by Darth Vader. However, the character was fleshed out in a big way in the prequel trilogy, adding some much-needed depth to his history with Darth Vader.

The brief list above is only a tiny sampling of some of the more interesting character names to be found in the Star Wars universe. Have you figured out what your Star Wars name is yet? Using some of the amusing formulas online to figure it out can definitely produce some interesting results — be sure to give it a try yourself!
