| The Space Station is wheel-shaped and measures 250 feet across. It would have been set up as an advanced base in orbit 1000 miles above the earth. It would act as headquarters for the final ascent to the moon and journey to Mars. The outside of the station is divided into three main sections. The outer rim is used as living and working quarters for a fifty man crew. The inner section or hub is used as an approach to the station through an air lock. The large spokes are elevator shafts and the small pipes are used as condensers for the turbo-generators and air conditioning plant. The turbo-generator supplies the station with electricity through heat given off by an atomic reactor. The wheel was designed to rotate three times a minute and as a result would produce an artificial gravity for the crew. The original art is computer generated on a Power Macintosh 7200/90. |
